Introduction:

I discovered the captivating television series "Goliath" on Amazon Prime as an Indian blogger. In one of its episodes, we had a conversation that made me think: The clock tells us that we have 10 minutes left until 8 when the numbers show 7:50. A revelation about our struggle to enjoy life to the same extent as we did as children resulted from this profound yet simple statement.

The Dangers of Having Anxiety About the Future:

We frequently find that we are fixed on the place we want to be, that we are constantly aware of the long road ahead of us, and that we are mired in fear. We are unable to fully appreciate our accomplishments and the progress we have made thus far because of this mindset. We experience a vicious cycle of stress and dissatisfaction even when we achieve our objectives because our focus quickly shifts to the next issue, which perpetuates the cycle.

Taking in the Journey:

In our tenacious quest for future yearnings, we ignore the enchantment inborn in the present and neglect to get delight from the actual excursion. This pattern is present in every sphere of our lives—personal, professional, educational, and social. This behavior is exacerbated by our excessive reliance on digital devices, as we constantly compare ourselves to others on social media, frequently feeling inadequate and ungrateful for our own achievements.

The Power of Perspective and the Mask of Success:

It is essential to keep in mind that people often hide their fears, difficulties, and failures in order to show the world their best selves. Numerous voices have emphasized the significance of accepting the process, living in the present, and finding beauty in uncertainty throughout history. This is echoed by inspiring quotes from remarkable individuals:

  • "Objective/output-driven rather than process/system-driven," says James Clear, author of "Atomic Habits."

  • "If you can concentrate always on the present, you'll be a happy person," Paolo Coelho says in his well-known novel "The Alchemist."

  • "Life is a daring adventure toward an unknown future, and its beauty depends on how much you enjoy the journey," says Debasish Mridha.

  • We should, in the words of James A. Murphy, "let go, let life, and enjoy the journey."

Taking in the Now: A Way to Be Happy:

In the end, our goal ought to be to reclaim our carefree and contented four-year-old selves. Accepting our current circumstances, delighting in our progress, savoring the moment, and eagerly anticipating the journey ahead are all part of this. "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift from God, which is why we call it the present," goes the well-known saying.

Conclusion:

We need to free ourselves from the grip of worry about the future if we want to live a life that is fuller and happier. We can rekindle the childlike wonder and enthusiasm that once defined us by fully accepting the present, appreciating our accomplishments, and taking pleasure in the journey. Let us try to approach each day with thankfulness and anticipation, valuing the precious present that has been given to us.

Hope it was a good read!!!
